Umbrella School Services

Florida Academy of Excellence offers the following services for homeschooling families anywhere within the state of Florida:
Annual Evaluations→ For students who are registered with their local school district as “Home Education” students, we offer annual portfolio evaluations, which can be completed in-person within 30-minutes of central Pasco County, or online for residents anywhere within the state of Florida. Our evaluator, Dr. Krista Mallo, has been a Florida certified professional educator since 2001 and holds certifications in English for grades 6-12, ESOL for grades K-12, and ESE (Special Education) for grades K-12.
The FAE Umbrella School→This is a home education program for students who would best be served through an “umbrella school” option. FAE enrolls grades K-12 anywhere within the state of Florida. Students enrolled in this program are eligible to take courses through our affiliation with Florida Virtual School or any other parent-led curriculum program of their choosing. This program is not location-bound, and no courses are required to be taken on the campus of our school. Students enrolled in this program are responsible to report attendance to FAE, and they are exempt from annual evaluation requirements.
Full-time Private School– from 2022-2024, Florida Academy of Excellence operated the full-time in-person private school program known as Trinity Collegiate High School at 2430 Welbilt Blvd, Trinity, FL. This program was discontinued in June 2024. The new school we work with is www.floridacollegiate.org.
Curriculum→ Students enrolled in FAE’s Umbrella School home education program choose from any combination of the following curriculum options: Florida Virtual School (FLVS.net), Accelerated Christian Education PACEs, Math U See, Teaching Textbooks, Alpha Omega Publications, Saxon Math, Abeka, Apologia, Answers in Genesis, Life of Fred, Mystery of History, or BJU Press. Other curriculum options may be approved by request but will be required to demonstrate a systematic progression of skill-based or information-based instructional material that is grade-level appropriate and aligned with national or state education standards.
Transcript Service→ Transcript evaluation services are available for all home education students. This includes the conglomeration of records from multiple sources of instruction, such as homeschool co-ops, CLEP exams, stand-alone courses, FLVS, or other homeschool programs.
